These medals were issued by the Royal Shakespeare Company and were minted at the Franklin Mint. This is the first ever series of art medals issued by the Royal Shakespeare Company, and it honors the 350th anniversary of the publishing of the "First Folio", the first edition of William Shakespeare's plays. The "First Folio" is widely considered to be one of the most famous pieces of literature in history. This set includes 38 medals total, one for each of Shakespeare's plays. The obverse of each medal contains a portrait pertaining to the play, and the reverse has a famous quote from the play. Each medal also includes a corresponding informational pamphlet with commentary by John Goodwin of the Royal Shakespeare Company. All of the medals are as issued and are sterling silver.
