This is the first art knife ever commissioned by the American Indian heritage foundation. It is a magnificent example of the knife makers art by the internationally acclaimed master Sid Birt. The fabled Thunderbird, one of the most revered symbols in Native American art, is portrayed on the pommel, enhanced with hand set crystal cabochons in the traditional colors of coral and turquoise. Mounted to the intricately detailed guard is a handsome medallion depicting the familiar buffalo skull, set against a glittering background accented with 24 karat gold electroplate. Portrayed on the medallion is one of the most powerful symbols in Native American imagery, the buffalo skull representing the spirit of life.

The blade is a work of art in itself. Wrought in SPAIN, of stainless steel, hand polished to a rich luster and ornamented with an artistic rendering of deer tracks. Crystal cabochons enhance the handsome Hardwood grip, and the Bear claw, token of good fortune, is accented with 24 karat gold and sterling silver electroplate. This offering also includes the ORIGINAL hardwood framed display case with glass top and working lock with matching original key, and is in BEAUTIFUL condition. This is a Rare Collectible Knife- especially in this beautiful condition with the original offering order form. The very substantial locking hardwood display case is 20-1/2 tall by 9-3/4 wide by 2-3/4 deep. The commemorative knife is 16 long and 3 wide. The knife alone weighs over 2 pounds!
