It is further certified that this work is an etching in sterling silver on copper inlaid with 24 karat gold and embellished with blue enamel. Krieg - Vice President Collector Relations.
This is a beautiful precious metal etching titled "Quail of the Golden Maple" by artist Zang Shou-Cheng. It is part of a 1983 Franklin Mint four piece set known as the Four Messengers of Good Fortune. The etching was crafted in pure silver and 24 karat gold on richly burnished copper set in a teak frame and matted in complementary colors of beige and orange.
It portrays a pair of quail in the branches of a golden maple tree. In Chinese folklore, the quail is a bird esteemed as a messenger of good fortune. The Certificate of Authenticity is attached to the back and is in excellent condition. The teak frame is approximately 14 ¾" by 9" and is wired and ready to hang. The etching measures 7 ¼" by 4" inside the matting.The frame is in great condition and there is just one very small dot on the beige matting.
